When my friend and I turned up to uni in colour co-ordinated outfits a few days ago, we couldn't help but have an impromptu photo session as any true fashion students would. Though I've been holding back from blogging recently because of deadlines, I wanted to share this outfit and get back into the swing of things.
What I wear to uni varies depending on my mood, just like any other day, and as the sun was shining I wanted to escape my usual habit of wearing jeans. As I mentioned in my last post, I recently purchased a midi skirt which is very much out of my comfort zone since I'm not accustomed to the longer length. I feel like the best thing to do when you aren't 100% certain with an item of clothing is force yourself to wear it out of the house because you'll more than likely be reassured and consequently not want to stop wearing it.
What I love about this particular skirt is that it's ribbed, has a slit in the leg and is on the shorter scale of midi skirts, finishing at the knee - though it can be longer if worn lower at the waist. As there was a slight breeze in the air I paired it with an oversized jumper, which perfectly contrasts with the fitted skirt, and Converse to make it all more casual. I actually borrowed my friends cross-body bag for these images and I think it really tops off the look.
I don't know why I haven't worn my midi skirt sooner but I think it's going to become one of my staple pieces from now on as I love how versatile it is. I also really want to invest in some proper white trainers to wear with it as I've seen this done a lot and love the effortless look that is achieved.
How do you escape your comfort zone when it comes to clothing?
